funny. hip. relevant.
Rafael is that guy. The one who looks the part, but is a prankster. His beard is the most beautiful facial sculpture imaginable. a cross between a roman centurion and a Greek god. He’s a sexy Zeus, but he’s also a prankster, which is why he buys all his stuff at glottman. He likes stuff and also has a dark side: he orders gifts for loved ones, but keeps it all for himself. He rings Ava’s doorbell and has a huge smile on his face. The memory of ordering the blow flash mug for oscar’s birthday gave him the giggles. He kept it for himself. The door opens and ava gives him a big hug. Hands him a small box wrapped in Kraft paper and tied in raffia with a rosemary sprig detail for the smell of it. Rafael smiles, but it’s not a smile most humans make. It’s one of those bearded roman-greek god smiles that melts the skin around his cheek into divine dimple pools. He rips open the gift wrapping. Yanks the lid off of the box. Yes, he shouts and high-fives Ava. Rodi Graffitied Cans reminds him of the days he used to tag his initials around Wynwood before the Wynwood Walls was a thing. He gives ava a massive full mouth kiss. Best gift ever, he says with a thick possibly Portuguese or Italian accent. No one knows where Rafael is from, but the popcorn pin jewelry on his H & M sports coat lapel says what needs to be said. Come in, ava says. She leads him into the living room. he picks up the truth or dare for couples game on the coffee table and says, “let’s play.”
